TITANS OF OAK FOREST - RELOADED

It has started! After a year of waiting, the Titans from the oak forests are back—the stag beetle, because that's what we're talking about, was seen in the oak forests.
The wheel of life has come to full circle and  they are back again. As I wrote in - THE BIRTH AND DEATH OF TITANS the same as last year.
There are a lot of holes under the trunks after they left their underground chambers. Sometimes you can observe the moment they break the surface.

I haven’t photographed the whole exit process - I don’t have enough  patience. I wanted to remedy this and try and take this photo once again, but I missed my chance- unfortunately, a photo not taken is lost forever. You can't postpone a photo until later.

Back to the topic.

The first one I saw this year was extraordinary - a beautiful male - bigger  form.

Fortunately, the wave of frost - that destroyed the young oak leaves did not harm the stag beetles. They spent this period locked in coccoliths, in their underground chambers among the roots of oak trees.

It must be admitted that the portrait photo is impressive -I would say it's even a little terrifying.

I will move on from the topic of stag beetles because there has been a lot about them already. It was just a sign that they are back, as they do every year.

Now it's time to present our largest beetles—the great capricorn beetles, giants of the insect world in Poland.  The next post will be about them.

As a teaser, I present a photo—en face—of one of them.

Well - I didn't do a good job with this Photos, I messed up a bit (in fact all of it was bad) the moment of emergence of my beloved insects(stag beetles). But how does the sentence from Horace's poetry go?- "carpe diem..." - perhaps it takes on a slightly different meaning here, butt that's life.
Okay - I;m off to suffer alone 😉
